August 1997. This page is new and in construction. Please let me know of any glaring errors. I shall be working more on the documentation as time allows but wanted to make the software available immediately. Work on the Chinput dictionary was done mainly in 1995, since when other projects have rather put my Cihui project in the background. The dictionary is bound to contain errors and duplicates which can be slowly weeded out. Error reports are very welcome. The fact is it doesn't matter too much since the dictionary is quite usable.
The Dictionaries. I have bundled the two basic pinyin dictionaries with the FEP. These are quite small, whereas the Chinput dictionary contains almost any phrase you are likely to want and you can of course add to it. The pinyin version of the dictionary is less developed than the Chinput version. It is larger than the Chinput dictionary in kilobytes but this is simply because the Romanizations are longer; in fact it contains less than the Chinput version. In the meantime I recommend you learn Chinput. It is very easy to learn and will enable lightning fast input of Chinese.
This is how your Chinese input will look. The input strip and the options strip extend the whole width of the screen and are visible only when Chinese input is active. There are many ways of arriving at your phrase.
